Summer Dahlias
The "mayor" of Mudville in Holliston, MA owns a dahlia farm where he grows an amazing variety of dahlias. It's such a pleasure to see and photograph them! Although they are very colorful, I like this in black & white.

I had the opportunity to photograph this young woman through my membership and involvement with the Boston Camera Club. I am drawn to her natural expression and wonderful hair. This image was named monochrome print image of the year by the Stony Brook Camera Club in 2015.
Destiny Africa
This girl is a delightful performer with Destiny Africa, a charitable organization devoted to helping children from Uganda who are affected by poverty, disease and the legacy of war.

Sometimes I ask a model to pose in some way with her hand because I think that hands can tell us more about the person. In this case, it adds to the beauty of the subject.
Mother and Child
I like the way the child is sheltered in the cradle of the mother's loving hands.

You can tell that the cat holds a prominent place in this family.

This is my smart and beautiful niece, back when she was in high school.

A solarization filter was digitally applied to give her a silvery glow.

This man was a character at Sturbridge Village, playing some kind of musical instrument that was popular in colonial America.

This woman is the owner of a consignment dress shop. She is also a fantastic model.
High Noon
This image was made using a camera that is sensitive to infrared light, which reflects well off the tree foliage making it bright. The absence of infrared light in the sky renders it dark. This was made at about high Noon on a sunny day at UMass Amherst also with an ultra-wide angle lens.
Saint Andrew's Castle
Castle ruins in Saint Andrew, Scotland. An infrared camera was used. This picture was named monochrome print image of the year in 2011 by the Stony Brook Camera Club.
Old Schoolhouse
Restored old schoolhouse adjacent to the Norfolk Public Library in Massachusetts. An infrared camera was used.

An infrared camera was used to capture these palm trees in Florida.
Boston Marathon Women Frontrunners
This was made at the Boston Marathon in 2013, at the top of Heartbreak Hill in Newton. I like the expressions of determination, especially on Jeptoo who went on to win the race. The finishing stats are as follows:

Boston Marathon
This was made at the 2014 Boston Marathon. A former runner myself, I like to capture images of random runners whose expressions tell a story of their determination and painful mission, each with their own reasons for doing what they do. This was taken at a low angle for a different perspective.
Hand Cyle Racer
Boston Marathon, 2016. The wheelchairs and hand cycles are an important and exciting part of the race. They start before the runners so you have to be there early to see them.
Eight Arch Bridge
The eight arch railroad bridge in Holliston MA was built in 1920, as noted in the fallen-down stone at the lower right. The railroad was an important means of transportation and delivery for industry that operated in the town during the 20th century. The railroad no longer operates, but the bridge is a historical structure and part of a rail trail used by local residents for walking and biking.

Peggy's Cove Lighthouse
Peggy's Cove is a beautiful place in Nova Scotia, Canada. I was lucky to get this cumulus cloud pattern. There were actually a lot of people sitting on the rocks and in front of the lighthouse, so I put the camera on a tripod and took several pictures as people eventually moved so I could paste together a picture without any people. This image won the New England Camera Clubs Council (NECCC) monochrome print of the year award in 2007.
Mulholland Point Lighthouse
The Mulholland Point Lighthouse is in New Brunswick, Canada. The gathering storm clouds allowed just a few sunrays for some drama in the background.
Historical Barn and the Grand Tetons
The T. A. Moulton Barn is all that remains of the homestead built by Thomas Alma Moulton and his sons between about 1912 and 1945. Clearing storm in the background and the Grand Teton Range in Jasper Hill, Wyoming.

A certain type of pine cones at the Garden in the Woods in Framingham, MA.

This image was captured in a rain forest on the "big island" in Hawaii.
Seashell
I purchased this shell in North Carolina to photograph later in my home studio. I don't really know my shells, but I believe this one is a horse conch. I like the lines and texture.
Watch Gears
Amazing how these small gears and jewels can be assembled to measure time with great accuracy
Scary House
I captured this abandoned house just before it was bulldozed to make room for another structure to be built. The model poses were added in post-processing. A digital solarization filter was also applied to give it a glowing effect.
Speed Roadster
Collins Foundation, Race of the Century, Hudson MA, this car races against an airplane, a bicycle and a runner on foot in annual event.
